On August 14, 2003, one of the worst blackout events in history descended upon the Midwestern and northeastern United States and Ontario, Canada. More than 50 million people were affected, and many lost power for up to two days or experienced rolling blackouts for up to a week before pre-blackout conditions were restored. The loss of key transmission lines in Ohio due to contacts with trees was one of the primary causes of the blackout. The events triggered by the encroachment of trees within the wire security zones highlight the importance of vegetation management along electric transmission lines

In today’s market place and political environment we must recognize the need for good stewardship of our land and natural resources. Cedar Solutions has met this need by developing equipment and methodology that enables us to create low impact work plans with an emphasis on conservation and the recycling of vegetative debris rather than hauling it to land fills or burning. Our methods take the land preparation process from 6 steps to a one step process, while saving time, money and enhancing the environment. Our process reduces the brushy material to mulch that is spread evenly across the area conforming to the ground, creating an attractive “cost free” erosion matt. This facilitates reseeding of areas to remain in a natural state. Where the mulch must be removed the material is generally used in the end landscaping process further reducing costs and enhancing the beauty of the completed project.
